General – Cable Installation

The second cable installation vessel in the DEME fleet, Viking Neptun, recently arrived at the DEME Base in Vlissingen for the first time!

Here the installation of the complete modular CIS system (Cable Installation Spread), including all electronics, will be carried out.

Fully painted in the famous DEME green, the DP3 vessel will join the ‘Living Stone’ and reinforce DEME’s cable installation capacity.

Built to the highest Norwegian quality standards, Viking Neptun has a turntable capable of handling 4,500 tonnes below deck, but DEME will boost this capacity by adding a second, 8,000-tonne cable turntable on deck and a cable installation system similar to that of Living Stone.

The Viking Neptun will be deployed in the US to install a 138 kV export cable and the inter-array cables between the 15 turbines of the South Fork project.
