Wind Energy – Cables

LS Cable and System announced on December 12 that it has secured HVDC cables worth $306.2 million to Vattenfall’s Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm, scheduled to break ground in 2023.

It is the largest supply contract ever won by a Korean cable solution company in Europe.

Vanguard Wind Farm will be built next to Boreas Wind Farm off the coast of Norfolk in the North Sea of England. It is promoted by Vattenfall, a Swedish state-owned power company.

In October, LS Cable & System signed a contract to supply cables worth about 240 billion won for the Boreas project.

The company has recently acquired a stake in KT Submarine, which specializes in undersea cable installation, to respond to an increase in orders and strengthen its cable laying capabilities. The cable maker is expecting synergies with KT Submarine.
