Marco Polo Marine enters offshore wind market in Japan

Wednesday, December 14 2022

Wind Energy – Japan

Marco Polo Marine, a renowned regional integrated ship logistics company, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with ‘K’ Line Wind Service.

The MoU is outlining its intention to explore viable ship opportunities off the Japanese coast wind market marking a milestone in entering Japan. Through the new company both parties aim to own and operate suitable offshore support vessels targeting customers in this sector.

The agreement marks Marco Polo Marine’s successful entry into another important offshore wind market in Asia alongside Taiwan.

Marco Polo Marine has expanded rapidly into the offshore wind industry in recent years with the successful acquisition of PKR Offshore, an established Taiwan-based operator of wind vessels, in May 2022.

The group also commissioned the development of a new, state-of-the-art Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) commissioned at its Batam shipyard in early September to expand its service offering in support of the offshore wind farm sector.
