Bring power to shore by horizontal directional drilling (VIDEO)

Thursday, December 1 2022

Wind Energy – USA

Eversource Energy and partner Ørsted are continuing to progress the construction work for SouthForkWind.

New York’s first offshore wind farm is on schedule and anticipated to be completed in 2023.

The project will provide 130 megawatts of clean, renewable energy to New York – enough to power 70,000 homes.

To bring the power to shore, crews will use a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) process to create a pathway and install a conduit for the wind farm’s submarine transmission cable to land deep beneath the beach (approximately 80 feet) in the Sea-to-Shore Transition Area.
