Wind Energy – Estonia/Latvia
The Estonian government officially confirmed the location of the Estonian & Latvian offshore wind joint-venture – ELWIND.
Series of studies and analysis of all relevant aspects and conditions concluded that the project with an estimated renewable power capacity between 700 and 1000 MW’s will be developed within the Estonian waters just west of the Sõrve peninsula.
Earlier this year the Latvian state announced that a wind farm site is located in the Latvian maritime area between Liepaja and Ventspils in the Kurzeme region.
ELWIND will be developed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, the Latvia Ministry of Economy, the Environmental Investment Centre, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and the Latvian Transmission System Operator Augstsprieguma tīkls AS.
