Fossil Energy – Upgrading

Seadrills drillship West Saturn has been upgraded in the Jurong Aracruz shipyard, Brazil for the Equinors campaign.

The drilling contractor claimed that rig to be one of the most technologically-advanced drillships, in preparation for its contract with Norwegian Energy major.

West Saturn has been in the shipyard for the past many months preparing for its long-term contract and recently left the shipyard to begin sea trials and acceptance testing.

The rig recently had multiple upgrades done, but the biggest was getting a methanol injection system installed.

This innovative solution will reduce the rig’s fuel consumption rates by 10-15% AND reduce carbon emissions.

The firm term of the Equinor contract is expected to keep the rig busy until Q3 2026.
