Wind Energy – Arcadis Ost 1
IQIP is supplying three 800t Combi Lifting Tools for the assembly of Vestas’ wind turbines at the Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm.
This deployment comes after IQIP’s largest Combi Lifting Tool, which lifts up to WLL 3000t, was successfully used to conduct lifting operations for monopile installations at the wind farm.
The Combi Lifting Tool, which replaces of conventional shackle and rigging connections, is ideal for projects where maximum efficiency on lifting operations is a priority.
The tool allows equipment to be placed with fewer crane movements and vertical transits, and has delivered a 20% reduction to installation time on previous projects. The more the tool is used for lifting, the more installation time is saved.
Additionally, the Combi Lifting Tool is remote controlled, which eliminates direct human contact and ensures that fewer riggers are required on deck for what can be high-risk offshore crane operations.
By enabling automatic couplings and lifts via one connector and corresponding sockets on tools, the Combi Lifting Tool saves time and mitigates the risks that are involved with manual connections of crane hook, slings, and installation equipment. The tool is just one of several innovative solutions that support IQIP’s “no hands on deck” philosophy for improved safety on board.
On the Arcadis Ost 1 project, the 800t Combi Lifting Tools will be used during tower lifting to ensure that no personnel will be required at the top of the tower during high-risk lifting manoeuvres. To further prioritise safety, pre assembly will be conducted by Vestas in the Port of Ronne, bolting will only be performed in port, and unbolting at fixed positions on tower at foundation.
