Wind Energy – Hammer System

Menck is supplying its market-leading MHU 4400S hammer system for the installation of 190 piles for a large wind farm development in the UK North Sea.

The MHU 4400S hammer system that can deliver 4400 kJ of impact energy, has successfully been used in the world’s largest one part driving configuration (8m diameter) to support the installation of the first foundations on the project.

The hammer helps to achieve carbon efficiencies by using quieter technology in comparison to the conventional MHU design. The reduction of the project footprint is supported by the integrated system setup which requires minimal personnel to work on the installation.

Menck’s hammer system will be rented for the duration of the project and supported by Menck personnel to drive the remaining monopiles to the design depth in the seabed.
