General – lifting
UK-based First Subsea has designed, developed, and supplied multiple advanced internal lifting tools for offshore construction applications, ranging from 150mt to over 4000mt.
The lifting tool has been designed to integrate with the vessel crane and provide a quick connect and disconnection for rigging spreads which are becoming increasingly common with the industrialisation of Offshore Wind projects.
The tool permits the crane to transfer from one lifting operation quickly and safely to the next by connecting with specially designed receptacles which are integrated with pre-rigged or structurally integrated elements connected to foundations or dedicated handling tools.
The Internal Lifting Tool is inherently safe, its simple design does not require hydraulics to engage or lock over when coupled. It engages automatically when lowered under self-weight and cannot be released until the load is removed from the crane and a hydraulic line actuated to retract the latching mechanism.
The tooling, designed and manufactured in accordance with DNVGL-ST-0378 will have a defined Working Load Limit and after careful assessment of the lifting operation, where factors like Dynamic Amplification associated offshore lifts, will govern the Safe Working Load for each planned operation.
