Wind Energy – Taiwan
Lead foundations contractor CDWE has selected Samkang M&T as preferred supplier to deliver jackets for Northland Power’s 1GW-plus Hai Long 2B & 3 offshore wind project in Taiwan.
The South Korea-based fabricator will supply a total of 52 bases. The jackets will weight around 2000 tonnes each and measure up to 94 metres in height.
The foundations will support Siemens Gamesa 14MW turbines, which will be deployed 50km off the Taiwan coast in water depths of 55 metres.
“Again a very important key milestone is reached with the selection of Samkang M&T as preferred supplier for the 52 jackets required for the HL 2B and 3 sites. We are very glad that CDWE, in close cooperation with the Hai Long team, is moving on a steady pace and on schedule with its procurement program for the Hai Long project,” said Marco Kanaar, project director of CDWE (on the picture right).
The contract was signed in the presence of Niels van Berlaer, BU Director DEME Offshore (on the picture left).
Hai Long is due to be fully commissioned by 2026.
