Fossil energy – Multi-flow Base Structure
Following successful operations in April and May this year to install the first two Multi-Flow Base (MFB) structures on the Vår Energi Balder EPCI project, Havfram‘s Balder project team recently transported a further three MFB’s from Agility Tonsberg to Stord.
In Stord the MFBs were mobilised onboard CSV Viking Neptun for installation offshore.
Provided by the Balder project consortium partner Baker Hughes, these impressive 230t 22m x 15.5m x 7.1m MFB’s may seem large, but are approx. 30% lighter than a traditional design resulting in a significant reduction in raw material consumption.
This smart design coupled with Viking Neptun’s recently installed hybrid propulsion system are clear examples of an industry committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
