Operations on ‘Taiwan Power Company (TPC) Offshore Windfarm Phase 1 Project – Demonstration’ awarded to the Consortium Jan De Nul/Hitachi have resumed.
Operations have re-started by loading equipment and wind turbine components from the quay side onto Jan de Nul’s offshore installation vessel Taillevent at the Taichung Port.
Following the massive impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the related new and stringent regulations put in place, TPC and the Consortium still managed to complete over 75% of its scope in 2020 which was an incredible result when looking at the overall windfarm industry in 2020.
With the weather now slowly improving, the Consortium is focusing on finishing the installation of 19 Wind Turbine Generators with the Taillevent and will soon start the installation of the small number of remaining sea cables.
JDN will utilize its newly acquired Cable Laying Vessel Connector for this work.
Following the subsea cable installation, all cables will be connected inside the towers followed by the final commissioning steps.
