Marine engineering and design house ‘Sevan SSP’ capitalizing its experience from harsh environment hull design, has introduced a circular Substation design concept.
Sevan said, the principles of Sevan’s proven proprietary floater design is incorporated, providing a stable floater with minimum fatigue on hull and cable connections.
The low platform accelerations are advantageous for sensitive electrical equipment, and if applicable, maximizes helideck availability for logistics, company claimed.
Otherwise, boat landings may be accommodated for access of service personnel, and hence it can serve as a service hub for the surrounding area.
The high payload is well suited for heavy electrical equipment, which may be stored in a protected environment inside the hull.
The hull also protects the tie-ins of cables and riser from splash zone impacts by being connected sub-surface to the centre of the hull. Finally, as a prudent harsh environment design, the Sevan Substation can be delivered with excellent performance in ice conditions.
