Wind Energy – Formosa 2
Formosa 2 announced today that it has completed the installation of 12 wind turbines, successfully connected to the grid, and started to deliver power late June already.

These two key milestones demonstrate that the Formosa 2 wind project is steadily progressing towards its goal of commercial operation.
The project is developed by JERA, Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (Corio Generation), and Swancor Renewable Energy.
The site is 4-10 kilometers offshore of Miaoli County and comprises 47 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines. A total of 376 MW capacity will be available for approximately 380,000 households annually.
Despite the unstable weather in the first half of the year, the team seized every available opportunity to commence the installation of the jacket foundations and the laying of the array cables in April and May this year. It started to install the wind turbines in early June. The underwater foundation is now more than half complete, while the wind turbine installation is more than a quarter finished.
Michael Klingele, Project Director of Formosa 2, said: “The Formosa 2 team is now progressing at full speed. Even in the face of unstable weather conditions, the project team will continue to build the wind farm safely and sustainably, following high environmental safety and security standards, as a critical driver of Taiwan’s green energy transformation.”
