General – NWEA
From August 1, Jan Vos will be the new independent chairman of the Dutch Wind and Energy Association (NWEA).
He succeeds Hans Timmers, who has been chairman for the past seven years.
Jan Vos: “The acceleration of wind energy is enormous. In 7.5 years, more than 60% of Dutch electricity will already come from wind energy. However, the current situation requires even more effort. The reopening of the Dutch coal-fired power stations due to the war in the Ukraine and a largely closed Groningen field is an emergency measure. It means that we have to face a big challenge together. It also means we have to work faster on solutions that deliver results. We do a lot, but not enough. The cabinet must once again roll up its sleeves and make difficult decisions. Our members are ready to contribute.”
Jan Vos (50) studied history at Erasmus University Rotterdam and made a career as an entrepreneur and politician. Recurring subjects in his companies or functions are international economics, ICT and investment policy. As a Member of Parliament he was responsible for the subject Climate & Energy; the sector and the challenges are therefore well known to him. Also after his membership of parliament, he regularly participates in the public debate.
