Fossil Energy – Australia

AGR’s Well Management Division has spudded the Sasanof-1 exploration well in Australia’s Carnarvon Basin, on behalf of Western Gas.

The semi-submersible Valaris MS-1 rig arrived at the deep water well location last week and spud the well in the Carnarvon Basin, approximately 207 km off North West of Onslow.

A recent report on the contribution of high impact wells released by IHS Markit (part of S&P Global) earlier this year, cited the Sasanof Prospect as being one of only two high impact wells in the Asia Pacific region of the 20 global high impact wells planned due to be drilled in 2022.

Based on the independent estimates, the Sasanof Prospect contains a 2U Prospective Resource of 7.2 Tcf gas and 176 Million bbls condensate (P50), with a high case 3U Prospective Resource estimate of 17.8 Tcf gas and 449 Million bbls condensate (P10).
