Wind Energy – Arcadis Ost 1
At this very moment the huge foundations for the wind turbines at Arcardis Ost 1 have been stored at the port in Roenne.
And in a few days, the shipping of the giant steel pipes will begin for which DEME Offshore is responsible.
The foundations have a length of 110 meters, a diameter of 10 meters and a weight of over 2,000 tons each.
This is the first time that DEME Offshore will install such large foundations and at the same time the first time this will happen with their new installation vessel Orion.
The 28 XXL Monopiles – or foundations – are for the 27 offshore windturbines and a single transformer station that will form the upcoming offshore wind farm Arcadis Ost 1, which will be established in the Baltic Sea a few kilometers from the northern German island of Rügen.
Mathieu Holvoet, DEME Offshore’s project director for the site, is really looking forward to starting shipping of the foundations.
“We are really excited because it is a new ship, the biggest foundations we have ever installed, a very challenging project and a lot of people who have to work together to make it all a success. And here in Roenne, it all melts together when ship and foundations meet. And that’s actually the best part of our project, when that happens.”
