Fossil Energy – Decommissioning
Wintershall Noordzee’s Q4-A satellite platform was the next platform which has recently been successfully removed.
After completing the preparation work, the topside was lifted (single crane) and transported ‘in-the-hooks’ of the crane of the HLV Gulliver to Vlissingen.
After returning to the offshore location, the HLV lifted and down-ended the 3 conductors, followed by airlifting the soil plugs in the piles and the abrasive pile cutting.
The jacket was then lifted and transported (using ILTs) to shore, once again in the hooks of the HLV. Finally, the debris was removed and an as-left survey was successfully completed.
The Q4-A platform was a re-use of the former K10-C platform, which was originally installed in 1981 and removed in the late 90s. Topside and jacket were sold to Clyde Petroleum and fully refurbished/modified. With the Wintershall/Clyde-merger in 2003, the Q4-A came back as part of Wintershall Noordzee’s assets.
With the removal of the Q4-A, our 2022 removal campaign has been completed.
