General – Orion

DEME’s Orion seen on her maiden-trip from Bremerhaven to port Scaldia / Flushing-east.

Yesterday was a special day in DEME’s history as the revolutionary new offshore installation vessel Orion sailed out from Bremerhaven.

The Orion docked for the first time at DEME’s base near Vlissingen, where it will be prepared for its first project, being the Arcadis Ost 1 project in the German sector of the Baltic Sea..

Equipped with its powerful, 5,000-tonne crane and a unique Motion Compensated Pile Gripper this gentle giant is designed to handle the next generation of wind farm components.
