Fossil Energy – Island Drilling
Island Drilling has signed a new contract with Eco (Atlantic) Oil and Gas to provide a mid-water, harsh-environment semisub Island Innovator for drilling of the Gazania-1 exploration well, offshore South Africa.
The work is scheduled to begin in Q4 2022 and will fill the gap in the rig’s schedule between the Petrofac UK drill and the Maersk Decom P&A campaign off Mauritania.
This now means that the rig is fully committed through 2022.
The Gazania-1 well is located in the Orange Basin in South Africa, which straddles the offshore waters of Namibia and South Africa, where major discoveries on both the Graff-1 well, drilled by Shell, and the Venus-1 well, drilled by TotalEnergies, have recently been announced.
