First Taiwan-flagged CSOV completes Walk to Work trials

Monday, February 14 2022

Wind Energy – Taiwan

Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) completed harsh weather demonstrations at the Offshore Substations of the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms with the first Taiwan-flagged CSOV.

The trials, conducted in early January 2022, displayed the ability of the Orient Constructor to conduct transfers during the harsh weather winter period at both the offshore substation and offshore foundations. Wave buoy data during the trials showed significant wave heights of up to 4 meters at the site.

Orient Constructor is Taiwan’s first subsea construction and Walk to Work vessel owned and operated by a local Taiwanese contractor. She was successfully converted into the CSOV role in Taiwan in late 2021 through the installation of a 3D motion compensated Walk to Work gangway.
