JERA plans development wind power generation project

Wind Energy – Japan

JERA plans to develop an offshore wind power generation project off the town of Happo and the city of Noshiro in Akita Prefecture, Japan.

Last week the company submitted its Primary Environmental Impact Consideration Document for the Project to the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

JERA believes that the favourable wind conditions and shallow seabed off Happo and Noshiro make the area suitable for the development of bottom-fixed offshore wind power generation.

The Project include as many as 30 wind turbines with a maximum generation capacity of 356MW.

As JERA aims to become a global leader in renewable energy, it has participated in offshore wind projects in the U.K. and Taiwan. JERA will apply the experience and expertise gained in the construction and operation of such large-scale offshore wind projects to the current Project.
