Renewable energy – TetraSpar
At the end of July the TetraSpar Demonstrator was safely towed from Grenaa, Denmark to the METCentre test site off the island of Karmöy near Stavanger, Norway, and now the last parts of the cable and grid connection have been completed.
Once energized, the SGRE 3.6 MW turbine was grid connected; it just worked from the start button was pressed, and we are now in operation. Real, genuine operation in the tough offshore environment. According to wind power pioneer Henrik Stiesdal there were 6 m waves and gusts up to 32 m/s on the first day of operation.
The long-term testing has begun.
