Marine Le Pen against renewable energy

Thursday, October 14 2021

General – France

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has said she will end all renewable energy subsidies and take down wind turbines if elected next year.

Le Pen told radio station RTL: “Wind and solar, these energies are not renewable, they are intermittent. If I am elected, I will put a stop to all construction of new wind parks and I will launch a big project to dismantle them.”

Le Pen has indicated her support for France’s nuclear industry – which generates around 75% of the country’s current power – and would allow the construction of several new reactors, fund a major upgrade of France’s existing fleet, and back the construction of small modular reactors.

May be someone in France should educate her about what the energy transition is about. Luckily the change that Le Pen is going to win the elections, is quite small.
