Wind energy – Poland
The Polish government and companies in its offshore wind industry have signed a unique sector agreement aimed at guaranteeing local content in the development of projects.
It is one of the most fundamental step to realize the Polish Offshore Wind achieved today.
Poland’s Minister of Climate and Environment Michal Kurtyka (pictured) said: “The overriding goal of this agreement is to support the development of the sector in Poland and to maximise the so-called local content, ie, the participation of Polish companies in the supply chain for offshore wind farms being built in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.”
Polish Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Ireneusz Zyska said: “The signing of today’s agreement is an unprecedented achievement that we can all be proud of.
“This is the second in the world, after Great Britain, sectoral agreement regarding the construction of a new sector of the economy, which is offshore wind energy.
“This is an example of very good cooperation between the government and current and future investors and operators of offshore wind farms in Poland, as well as entrepreneurs involved in supplies for the preparation, implementation and operation of offshore projects.
“We are glad that many key entities for the industry and the supply chain for offshore wind energy have already joined the implementation of the provisions of the agreement. We also encourage other actors to join this initiative.”
