Wind energy – U.S.A.
Yesterday Ørsted announced at 2021IPF the first-ever American-made offshore wind substation in partnership with Eversource Energy and Kiewit fabricated in Texas for NY’s South Fork Wind Project.

The fabrication of an offshore wind substation in Texas brings oil and gas expertise to the forefront of the offshore wind industry. The complexity and size of this major component essential to an offshore wind project will also require vendors from all over the US to support products and services.
Liz Burdock, President & CEO of Business Network for Offshore Wind stated: “We applaud Ørsted, Eversource, and Kiewit Offshore Services on this made in America project that will bring power to New York homes and businesses as part of the South Fork Wind Project.”
The work on the 1,360-tonne (1,500 tons), 18-metre-tall (60 feet) offshore substation will be done by more than 350 workers across three states as the fabrication workers in Ingleside will be supported by teams in Houston and Kansas.
