Wind energy – noise measurements
At the end of June Peutz Group Consulting Engineers from the Netherlands conducted underwater noise measurements during pile driving for the installation of the Beta jacket Hollandse Kust Zuid.

Heerema Marine Contractors’ heavy lift vessel Sleipnir has installed the second offshore substation jacket foundation at the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm, located 22 kilometres off the Dutch coast
During pile driving of the 6 large piles (163 tonnes each), vital for the construction of the offshore wind parks required for the energy transition, underwater noise was closely monitored to prevent disturbance of the marine environment as much as possible.
The noise levels were monitored real time. The software algorithm recognizes the signal of a single blow and determines the noise level (SEL-value). This enabled HMC to adjust the pile driving process if noise levels would require so.
