Iberdrola kick-starts 980MW floating offshore wind off Spain

Sunday, June 6 2021

Wind energy – floating wind

Spanish utility Iberdrola has submitted a request for government environmental impact guidance on two neighbouring floating wind projects totaling 980MW, located around 15km off Spain’s northern coast, in the Galicia region.

The two projects, San Brandán and San Cibrao, each powered at 490MW in Galicia’s Lugo province, will absorb an estimated €3billion investment, including feed-in power lines and two onshore substations.
