Univergy Solar, part of Spanish-Japanese renewable energy group Univergy International, announced that it is looking for a financial partner for a 500-MW floating wind project off north-east Scotland. shore.
The Project Scotia Ventus, to be located northeast of Scotland, is estimated to require GBP 28 million (USD 39m/EUR 32.5m) in investment for the development phase and GBP 1.2 billion for the construction phase.
The return on investment is expected to be about 8.5% on an annual basis.
The wind farm is expected to be developed between 2021 and 2025, with a two-year construction period taking place between 2026 and 2028. The facility is expected to become operational in 2028.
Univergy will provide potential partners with the required due diligence and project studies.
The company started working on the project in 2018. It has the confirmation of distribution network operator Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks that there is capacity to connect at least 500 MW at the desired location in 2028.
