Belgian government its ramping up field studies for the new Princess Elisabeth Offshore Energy Zone in Belgian part of the North Sea.
The 281 km² zone, which was designated in the Marine Spatial Plan 2020-2026, will double Belgium’s offshore wind capacity to at least 4GW by 2028.
On the advice of the Minister of Energy Tinne Van der Straeten and the Minister of the North Sea Vincent Van Quickenborne the Council of Ministers will launch public tenders for the execution of geophysical and geotechnical field surveys, laboratory tests and interpretation studies.
Earlier in January tenders were published for execution of the implementation of the UXO desktop studies and archaeological desktop studies. The tender windows are due to close on 8th and 9th February, respectively.
