Scotland’s Acorn Project, which counts with the participation of Shell and Pale Blue Dot Energy, aims to inject CO2 into offshore reservoirs for Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) purposes.
This video gives a view of how this is achieved via a land-based pipeline from Grangemouth. Alternatively, but not shown in the video, vessels at St Fergus can offload CO2.
Importantly, instead of the reservoirs outputting hydrocarbons, the CO2 is sequestered in a Net Zero reservoir.
