HST and Boluda to form offshore wind joint venture in France

Tuesday, January 12 2021

Boluda France and HST Marine signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the creation of a joint company offering crew transfer services in the offshore wind market in France.

UK company HST owns and operates seven crew transfer vessels and has so far carried out more than 50,000 technician transfers to offshore structures in the European offshore wind market.

Boluda France operates a fleet of 75 tugs and 30 service vessels in 15 ports and terminals in France, Africa and the Indian Ocean. The Marseille-based company provides maritime services such as port and terminal towing, ocean towing, piloting, mooring and crew transfer at sea.

“We are very excited to work with Boluda France to establish a high quality service for the French offshore wind market, we are like-minded, quality driven and will be a great team, the Boluda’s history, network and structure as well as our industry expertise will be a fantastic package for our clients, current and new,” PDG de HST Tom Nevin said.

With the six projects selected in 2012 and 2014, the 600 MW call for tenders in Dunkirk in 2019, the four floating demonstration wind projects under development and the tender for an additional 8.75 GW of capacity offshore wind turbine, France will have around 12.4 GW of fixed-bottom and floating-bottom offshore wind capacity in operation or under development by the end of 2028.
