Scottish based company Red Rock is in final planning stage to invest over £1 billion in new offshore wind farm Inch Cape in the East coast of Scotland.
Red Rock involved (25% owned) in the Beatrice project in 2019 and now have plans Inch Cape, for a 72 Wind turbines 15km of the coast of Carnoustie.
It will one of Scotland’s biggest offshore windfarms and will power up to a million Scottish households.
A study has found that North East Scotland has the most suitable physical attributes for wind energy. This included the water depths (55m), the water quality, geology and the average wind speed (19mph).
This has resulted in other offshore windfarms being built close by including Sea green and Neart na Gaoithe (NNG). It is forecasted that there will be many more even bigger projects planned in the next 5 years.
