Breakthrough Deep Purple Subsea Hydrogen Infrastructure project

Sunday, November 8 2020

TechnipFMC had a breakthrough on a key component of its Deep Purple Subsea Hydrogen Infrastructure project.

According to the company, this will stabilize intermittent energy sources like the offshore wind by producing hydrogen through electrolysis, and storing it for periods when the wind is not blowing.

TechnipFMC further added that storing Hydrogen Subsea makes sense because it’s inherently safe since it is submerged on the seabed.

The company developed a subsea connection system and recent pressure testing of the technologies showed promising results.

The subsea connection system is planned to be fully qualified in late 2021.
