Hengtong Submarine Power Cable has been awarded the Bạc Liêu 141 MW Offshore Wind Project by Power China Zhongnan Engineering.
Located 1km – 10 km from the south coast of Vietnam, the wind farm consists of 47 planned turbines in an area of 45.95 km2, with a maximum water depth of 10 m. Each turbine has a 3.3 MW capacity.
The scope of this EPCI project includes the engineering design, supply and installation of 35 kV submarine power cables and building a new onshore 220 kV step-up substation. The production of the 35 kV submarine fibre-optic composite power cable will take place in the Hengtong dedicated state-of-the-art high voltage manufacturing plant located in Changshu, Jiangsu Province, China. Delivery is expected in Q1 2021, followed by commissioning in the same year.
“We are delighted to support the Bạc Liêu project as we see great potential for offshore wind development in Vietnam. This project represents our entry to the Vietnamese offshore wind market and shows our commitment of providing turnkey solutions on submarine cable systems for our clients worldwide,” says John Hsu, Director of Hengtong Submarine Cable & System Division.
