Procon Wind Energy has secured a contract for the installation of commissioning electrical components of transition pieces for the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.
The electrical outfitting of the transition pieces will take place at Eiffage Métal’s site in Hoboken before they will be transferred to Saint-Nazaire for installation. Work is underway and is expected to run until Q2 2021.
A consortium including DEME Offshore and Eiffage Métal was awarded the EPCI contract for the 80 foundations for the wind farm in 2019. The scope includes the design, fabrication and installation of the 80 steel foundations. The first foundations will be installed offshore, in rocky seabed conditions, in spring 2021, with completion being planned in summer 2022.
Given the rocky seabed conditions, this particular wind farm will be the first in the world to install drilled XL monopiles.
