China Steel Power Corporation has contracted Ramboll to support engineering design works for the Zhong Neng offshore wind farm off Changhua coast in central Taiwan.
The 300 MW offshore wind farm is being co-developed by China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Copenhangen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), and is scheduled for completion in 2024.
Ramboll has been commissioned to provide the conceptual, Front End Engineering and Design, and detailed designs for the primary and secondary structure of the jacket foundations, piles, and transition pieces, including parts of the metocean assessment, as well as manufacturing and installation support.
Situated in-between tropics, Taiwan’s offshore waters are exposed to extreme natural forces such as earthquakes, sand waves, and soil liquefaction. This adds complexity to the design and engineering aspects in terms of foundation techniques and installation.
