Guanying Taoyuan Holding, subsidiary of Germany’s energy company WPD and the developer of Guanyin offshore wind farm announced on August 26 that it has signed contracts with several partners.
This dream team is ready to build the 350MW wind farms due to become operational in 2022, but WPD is still waiting for the official permit of construction from the Taiwan authority.
An official from the Taiwanese Bureau of Energy says: “It’s one thing that WPD is signing contracts with its partners, but there is still the questions of whether or not the developer will meet the qualification to obtain its permission to establish an offshore wind farm. At this very moment, the Taiwanese authority received flight safety concerns and submarine cable interference raised by Civil Aeronautics Administration and local telecommunication giant Chunghua Telecom.
According to a recent developer’s statement, 36 V164 wind turbines will be supplied by MHI Vestas, equipped with towers manufactured locally by CS Wind. The monopile will be produced by Taiwan’s two leading companies Formosa Heavy Industry and CTCI Machinery Corporation.
The Seaway Yudin will be responsible for transporting and lifting pin piles while Fred Olsen Windcarrier will be responsible for the installation of the turbines. Taiwan based CSBC-DEME will carry out the installation of submarine cables and GE will be the main contractor for onshore substations. Guanying Taoyuan Holding has also appointed Deutsche Windtechnik for operation and maintenance of the wind farm and the O&M contract has also agreed to build a local CTV.
