Building on the momentum of the conclusion of the Cooperation Agreement between Wintershall Dea and Gazprom Nedra last October, the two companies have decided to intensify their innovation and technical exchange and take their partnership a step further.
Thilo Wieland, Member of the Board at Wintershall Dea responsible for Russia, and Vsevolod Cherepanov, CEO of Gazprom Nedra, signed the Additional Agreement aimed to broaden the scope of innovative collaboration of the two companies in natural gas exploration and production technologies during a videoconference on 22 April 2020.
“This year marks 30 years of our cooperation with Gazprom Group, an extremely fruitful partnership that continues to follow its passion for our industry and drive innovation across such a broad range of matters. Our cooperation with Gazprom Nedra provides a solid basis for ambitious and technologically advanced joint Russian-German projects,” remarked Thilo Wieland on the occasion.
The new addendum extends the partnership between Wintershall Dea and Gazprom Nedra to include new collaboration points such as the development of the well drilling monitoring and support centre, integrated modelling of gas and gas condensate field development. Furthermore, the companies plan to collaborate on geophysical and geological research at gas condensate production wells in Blocks 4A and 5A of Achimov deposits in Urengoy gas field, with whose development Achim Development, a joint venture of Gazprom and Wintershall Dea, is tasked.

I am sure that the technical expertise and the commitment to innovation that we share will make an inspiring contribution to driving technical excellence in the Russian gas industry,” said Vsevolod Cherepanov.
The Cooperation Agreement between Wintershall Dea and Gazprom Nedra was signed on 2 October 2019 on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF). With this step, the companies have joined forces in promoting digital transformation and the deployment of innovative technologies in natural gas exploration and production in by means of, among others, comprehensive production modelling and optimisation of field exploration.
