Van Oord has signed a preparatory works agreement for the installation of the jacket foundations at Iberdrola’s French Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.
Van Oord will be responsible for the installation of 62 three-legged jacket foundations in the wind farm site, located around 20 km off the coast of France.
The future wind farm, with a surface area of 75 km2, will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines. The foundations will be built by a consortium of Navantia-Windar. The jackets will be made in Fene and the piles in Avilés, Spain. Some parts of the components will be made locally, in Brest. The assembly will be done in Fene.
A formal confirmation of the contract is expected after Iberdrola has made its final investment decision on the 496 MW offshore wind farm.
