Danish offshore drilling contractor ‘Maersk Drilling’ semi submersible rig Maersk Deliverer’s safety case is accepted by local authorities for Managed Pressure Drilling, Offshore Australia
On 2nd April 2019, Maersk Drilling was awarded a three-year contract, worth U$ 300 million, for ultra-deepwater semi-submersible Maersk Deliverer.
Inpex Australia and joint venture participants contracted the rig for drilling at the Ichthys gas and condensate field in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia.
The contract is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2020. The contract also includes two one-year options.
According to drilling contractor status, Maersk Deliverer is currently operating offshore Timor-Leste, contracted by Eni.
The Maersk Deliverer is a DSS-21 column stabilized dynamically positioned semi-submersible drilling rig was delivered in 2010 is capable to operate in water depths up to 10,000ft.
Maersk Deliverer set a World Record by operating offshore Malaysia in a water depth of 2855m, a collaboration with Weatherford.
