Balltec provided a 10 inch PipeLOK pipeline recovery tool, which was deployed to a water depth of 314 metres.
The subsea pipeline recovery tool was used to recover a 10 inch gas pipeline on behalf of TechnipFMC Norway on Equinor’s Åsgard field, located in the Norwegian Sea.
Balltec stated that, the work, which was overseen by a Balltec offshore technician, was required to re-lay the pipe in an installation area to allow the replacement of a previously damaged section of pipe.
The Åsgard A oil production vessel arrived at the field on 8 February 1999 and started production on 19 May.
The entire Åsgard field development ranks among the largest developments on the NCS, embracing a total of 63 production and injection wells drilled through 19 subsea templates.
