Seaway Heavy Lifting’s vessel Oleg Strashnov has installed the 86th and final jacket foundation on the Beatrice offshore wind farm in the Outer Moray Firth, Scotland.
This is the completion of a major effort that started in April 2016 and has included the design, fabrication and installation of over 120,000 tonnes of structures and an installation programme spanning 15 months.
The jacket foundations will support 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW wind turbines and two Siemens Offshore Transmission Modules (OTMs). The first turbines are expected to be installed shortly by the installation vessel Pacific Orca.
The turbine components will be loaded onto Pacific Orca in the sets of five at Nigg Energy Park on the Cromarty Firth.
The 588MW project is being developed by Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL), a joint venture partnership between SSE, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Red Rock Power.
